Aquifer Mapping April 14 and May 12

April 01, 2010
Body:

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ENFIELD RESIDENTS

There will be a presentation on Aquifer Mapping* at the April 14th Enfield Town Board meeting  (begins promptly at 6:45!).  Enfield residents are encouraged to attend and learn about this project and how it can benefit the Town of Enfield.  Aquifer Mapping can be a valuable tool for protecting drinking water supplies for many town residents, determining areas that are vulnerable to pollution/contamination, and may protect landowners and gas lease holders from potential liability from aquifer contamination.

At the May 12th Enfield Town Board meeting, the Board plans to vote on this issue.  It is important to support the Board in their efforts to protect the Town of Enfield from potential dangers and your attendance at this meeting is greatly appreciated.

*More information on Aquifer Mapping-  A valuable tool that towns can use to protect its water sources is Aquifer Mapping.  Among the many benefits of Aquifer Mapping are the assessment of potential threats to aquifers from both point and non-point sources, response to contaminant spills or leaks from fuel-storage facilities, and providing hydro-geologic information to aid in assessing the need to permit new or expanded public water supplies.
